New Year's Eve: Port Douglas

Our morning walk and scootering started off under cloudy skies 

but ended with a sunny afternoon and a Japanese lunch in between.

In the evening we went to Sheraton Hotel for a sumptuous buffet

where Mummy also had a very yummy Mojito sorbet!

Like in Rydges Cairns, we were greeted by a beautifully set table 

with our name on it.

Hugh was also thrilled to see the table number was 8

- his favourite number!

Day 11 : Port Douglas

We were supposed to go to the Low Isles today 

but the weather was not favourable so we postponed it.

Instead, we went to Little Larder for breakfast.

Since it was still raining we drove back to the apartment for 

Hugh's first poker game lesson.

Day 10 : Port Douglas

We spent a relaxing day at the apartment.

Had a light lunch...notice the milkshake again?

We were going to the Flames of the Forest dinner and show 

but it was cancelled due to floods. 

In the end this was our dinner and Hugh didn't seem to mind.

Day 9 : Cairns to Port Douglas

This is his experience eating an uncut apple.... 

not a good time attempting it as he's got 3 missing teeth :-)

For breakfast we had French Toast at Coffee Club before setting off to Port Douglas.

We arrived in Port Douglas earlier than expected and 

got greeted by a very lovely one-bedroom apartment. 

However, it rained all evening and was very humid.

He's developed pincers

Day 8 : Cairns

After some Vietnamese Pho for lunch we headed to the esplanade for some swimming.

For dinner we had Balinese at Bay Leaf Restaurant. 

He's really into milkshakes now and this banana milkshake is almost a foot tall!!!

Boxing Day : Cairns

Still cloudy but we got some swim in anyway! 

We also went to the rockpools and playground nearby.

In the evening we had some yummy dinner 

and Hugh claims his vanilla milkshake was the best he's had!

Mummy's Mojito was pretty darn good too!

Merry Christmas from Cairns

It's a gloomy Christmas morning so we slept in.

Then we skipped breakfast and headed for our pre-booked lunch buffet.

We were greeted by a nicely set table with our name on the menu.

And someone also got a surprise present from Santa!

Day 5 : Mackay to Cairns

Came by this quaint cafe after we left Mackay...

...and had breakfast next to a mango tree.

Then we stopped for Mexican lunch at Townsville.

We arrived at the Rydges Esplanade a little before 7 pm 

and prepared a nice little Christmas Eve dinner in our room 

except we forgot about plates and cutlery.

However, we most definitely did not forget the crackers!

He's so happy to get the fake moustache too :)

Day 4 : Miriam Vale to Mackay

The Latern Motor Inn in Mackay has a nice, 

little pool for the boys to dive into after we checked in.

Dinner was sushi as requested by the boy but Daddy wasn't too pleased. 

In fact he had the sooks as he'd wanted to go to Sizzler.

Day 3 : Tweed Heads to Miriam Vale

Our drive from Tweed Heads to Miriam Vale brought us 

through the Gold and Mining Museum.

Look at our gold diggers :)

We found a speck of gold!!! It's smaller than Who-ville. 

Can you see it? Hehe....

We also stopped for ice cream in Gympie 

which was highly recommended by Isaac's parents.

After we arrived at the Colosseum Creekside Motel, 

we sat outside the restaurant for drinks while Hugh had a chat with Nana.

Day 2 : Tweed Heads

Our second day is spent exploring the hotel's vicinity 

and all the fun stuff for the boy!

Road trip day 1 : Wyoming to Tweed Heads

Early start at 5.26am arriving at Coffs Shearwater Restaurant for lunch.

Got to Tweed Ultima at 4.15pm.

The two-bedroom apartment looked new and was huge!

The force awakened

So glad he recovered in time for the movie :)

Bacterial Tonsillitis

It started with fever and sore throat so we administered 

the usual Nurofen but it persisted and 

he requested to see a doctor because "I want it to go away quicker!"

The doctor diagnosed it as bacterial tonsillitis and 

prescribed antibiotics that contain penicillin 

to which we now know he's allergic :(

First day of summer holidays...

... and he starts it off watching The Philosopher's Stone again!
