hello mummy!

Yes I'm waving at Mummy at Costa Coffee in Mercato while Daddy does some last minute Christmas shopping.

you know what i did this christmas?

Went to a pub for the first time on Christmas Eve; it's called St. Andrew's Victorian Snug. Actually we sat outside by the pool while Mummy and Daddy had 5 Kilkennys between them and I just had my usual :)

On Christmas Day we visited Uncle Adel and Aunty Qing. They have the prettiest Christmas tree! I got presents from them too. After that we adjourned to Uncle Robert's and Aunty Remi's and I got more presents!

my 1st christmas was a blast!

I received 23 presents!!! Thank you everyone!!

bonding with mummy

Mother and son had a relaxing foot spa over the weekend :)

ahh...christmas tree

My 2nd attempt at having a photo taken with the Christmas tree was much more amicable. Mummy tells me that there are 38 presents under the tree when the photo was taken...I hope they're all mine!!

shopping lah!

Hugh enjoys going out and going out usually means to the malls in Dubai.

He's been to the Mall of Emirates with Mummy......

and Godma Ilka ......

and to Dubai Mall with Uncle Toon.

vroom vroom!

This car seat is my first Christmas present from Daddy & Mummy. I guess they wanna give me a headstart in the auto department.

white christmas

The weather has changed; it has even rained here a few times this month. Since the temperature has plummetted to the low 20's mummy has dressed Hugh up like we live in Finland.

santa's little helper

A big THANK YOU to the Loves and Buckleys for my new outfit!

Maybe by helping Santa, I can make up for me being so naughty and get some presents!

P.S. Rivers, Thank you for the other new outfit you gave me. I like it very much and will model it for you soon!

boxing, you think?

Daddy and Mummy have been toying with the idea of enrolling Hugh at the Tennis Academy but this photo tells us otherwise. Hmmmmmm......

night owl

In the beginning, Daddy bought a book called The Contented Little Baby. It's supposed to help put Hugh in a sleep routine allowing Mummy & Daddy to sleep better at night as well. The night part wasn't so hard, what's difficult was keeping little bub awake during the day! We'd sing 5 Little Monkeys, play the Wiggles DVD, hold him upright, bounce him up and down; anything we could think of but if His Highness wants to sleep, he'd do it anyway.

So, in the end we gave up and pretty much let our instincts guide us - both Hugh's and ours. Some days work out better than others but Hugh seems happier now unless colic strikes again. Of course, there are still days when chaos reign like here... the little cheeky bugger beaming away... at midnight :)

look ma, I can flap my arms!

This is my happy place...even for a moment. Mum and Dad usually put me here for timeout or when they're preparing my bath. I also get my massage here and usually get a good kick too; somehow prefering to do so in the cot than on the playmat. I'm not sure why but I'm really fascinated by this musical mobile which was a gift from Aunty Joanna. It keeps me happy and active for some reason.
Muchos gracias, SeƱorita Joanna!

woahhhh...what's this big green thing?

Hugh doesn't seem to like the Christmas tree and hasn't realised he's already got a present from Santa...the first and only present inder the tree.

big boy!

Hugh turns 3 months today! He is 55cm long and weighs 5.6kg

nice day out

Brought Hugh to Safa Park and he's more awake second time around... listening to the birds and feeling the cool breeze...ahhh!

colic or just a whiney boy?

The last week has seen Hugh whining and throwing tantrums. He has been exhausting Mummy & Daddy. (perhaps Mummy more) Some days he'll cry for no apparent reasons and others he'll wail whenever he's not picked up and it's so heartbreaking to see those teary eyes.

This photo captured a rare occasion when he could entertain himself for a while but Mummy is running out of ideas to soothe her sooki baby. We hope it's colic...then at least there's light at the end of the crying tunnel.

drinking & driving?

winter dubailand

Winter in Dubai is certainly mild compared to other parts of the world but in Hugh's world, the bedroom is helluva lot colder than outside. Seems the "recommended" bedroom temperature for babies found in some websites is 16C-20C and Mummy thinks that's craziness because that's brrrrrrrr!

Whatever the case, Hugh has enough thick clothing to brave it albeit with Mummy monitoring the thermometer.

just chillin'

Don't be fooled by the photos. Hugh doesn't like the bouncer that much. In fact he kinda hates it. The longest he can stay quietly on it is probably 10 minutes. We haven't quite figured out why; seating posture, uncomfortable fabric or plainly short attention span? Any ideas?

the grim gripper

We've always known that Hugh's got a good grip since the early days. He would grab your finger real tight and you need to pry his fingers open for him to let go. However, he's grabbing more stuff lately: Daddy's T-shirt (seen here), chest hair, Mummy's hair and glasses.

He's also recently head-butted Mummy and karate-chopped Daddy! What next- arm wrestle?

another dinosaur outfit

This is Hugh's 2nd outfit with Dinosaurs on it. Yup, our family is fascinated with them. Mummy will definitely watch Jurassic Park 1,2 & 3 with him when he's old enough. Seems Mr Spielberg is making a part 4 due out in 2010 and hopefully there'll be a part 5 in the future too!

Today Mummy collected my passport and citizenship certificate. I'm officially a Singaporean now!

hugh couture

This is Mummy's favourite outfit from Oz so Daddy decided to let me pose in it even though they weren't gonna take me anywhere...boo-hoo!

At the moment I can only do headshots and full length still shots; will take me another year -probably- before I can go on the catwalk. However, anyone interested can book me now for next year's fall collection :)

See if you can guess whose feet these are :)

goodies from oz

Yesterday was like Christmas!

Daddy's company's driver, Rajesh, finally went to the post office to collect a parcel from Australia for me.

It contains so many wonderful gifts from my family from down under. There are 2 story books and 3 stuffed toys - a kangaroo (of course!), a possum and a ...gorilla! I also found some cool clothes which I can't wait to show them off although some of them are a tad bit too large for me right now.

Thank you very much Nana, Aunty Liesa, Aunty Flick, Uncle Peter and cousin Rivers!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to have some milk so that I can fit into those clothes!

afternoon at creek park

Hugh had his first picnic at the Creek Park yesterday but slept through most of it. His buddy Keeanu (seen in photo here) at least had the decency to wake up for his picture taken :)

Everyone else was awake chatting, eating, drinking and simply enjoying the recently cooled weather. Yipppie, winter is finally approaching!

bath time

Hugh likes his bath or so we think just because he's always calm and quiet in the water. Take him out and he starts to wail though.

His bath usually involves shampooing his hair and then body washing which includes every single inch of his tiny, growing body. Special attention is also given to the "special" area down under. While he is perfectly safe since we got him the bath support, he'll still grab your arm real tight almost pinching. As long as he's well manicured we're ok with it.

Can't wait to take him to the pool and the Dreamland Aquapark!

milkman of human kindness

Hugh is reliant on mum to keep him supplied with milk.

Mummy's milk defends against all manner of diseases whilst supplying all his nutrient and calorific needs.

Some mums for whatever reason can't supply bub with milk so in Australia and Singapore (amongst others) there are Milk Donors, who like blood donors give milk so other little babies can have the benefit of breast milk.

Hugh isn't leaving any milk to be donated at the moment, busting through the 4 Kg mark this week.
